An unarmed security officer can get his license easily as compared to armed security guards. This is because the requirements for the former are less. The unarmed security guard is exempt from possessing a hidden or an unhidden weapon, the unarmed guards necessarily have to undergo short term training to get a certification for the job.
The duration of the training may vary from state to state but it is usually mandatory that unarmed security guards should be a part of minimum of thirty hours of training. It is also required that the candidates should undergo an initial training which is corresponded with an eight hour training to revive their skills every year or two.
The candidates should not undertake any training on their own. It is recommended that there would be security officials to consult with their employers. There are many firms that have an in-house training for their staff after they are hired.
Requisites for License of Unarmed Security Guard
The requisites which are to be met in order to attain the job of armed security guard are harsh than the requirements that are applicable for being eligible to be an unarmed guards. Armed security guards have to take an initial training similar to the unarmed guards which lasts for over thirty hours. This training is divided into general eight hour course which is kind of pre assignment. It is then supplemented by sixteen to twenty two hours of on the job training.
This is not all there is something more included in the basic training to be eligible to meet the requisites of armed security guard’s license. The guards who are willing to carry a gun must also submit form for a gun license in their state. It is normally known that armed security guards carry a generic pistol; therefore they will be required to apply for the gun license.
